We finally visited the amazing open-air market in Las Ramblas! I have been DYING to visit this, almost as much as Park Guell.
When you walk into the market, you notice two things first: One, that there are a lot of people. It's not quite packed like the straw market in the Bahamas but it is crowded.
And two, that there is color as far as the eye can see. One of the really great things about this market and one of the reasons why I have been so looking forward to visiting it is that everywhere you look, there are colors and excitement. Everything is ridiculously bright and vibrant.
I may have mentioned this before, but all the produce and meat here are super fresh. It's not so much about having the completely red apple or perfectly round orange, but about how it will taste. They use much less pesticides and chemicals than the imported produce back home. The meat (I don't eat meat, but this is what my friends have all been telling me) is unprocessed. The meat tastes better and is even pinker when raw than in the U.S. because it is organic and fresh.
A very popular purchase in the market, and going along with the "fresh produce theme" is fruit juice. There are anywhere between eight and fifteen juice stands in the market. They have every flavor and combinations of flavors of juice imaginable. It is, again, very fresh and brightly colored. It is a refreshing alternative to a soda (or "pop" as my friend Lauren would say) or iced coffee.

After, we finally caved and went shopping! I only ended up spending about €26 for two tops but my friends spent a lot more than that!
Blanco was a really adorable shop, very H&M meets Forever 21. It was reasonably price for pretty decent quality. I walked in and immediately thought of my best friend Nikki back home. She's very girly, she loves pink and pastels and florals. The store also had some edgy pieces, but majority was on-trend items like neons, pastels and pant suits.
The expressions say it all |
Lauren loves Zara; she found a cute top the other day there for about €19 but when we went, she had already seen the inventory and neither of the other girls found it interesting. It was very nice quality and a bit pricey, but it is definitely a good store is you want good quality investment pieces, like J.Crew or Nordstrom.
