Things I Regret Bringing...Or Not Bringing...

Some reflections...

Things I Regret Bringing On My Trip:
  • Most of my jewelry: Back home I accessorize a lot, but here it's too hot to care about bracelets etc. so I barely wore any of it.  My watch, a pair of studs and one ring was more than enough.
  • Books: I brought my mom's Nook and three thick comic books, but I didn't touch any of them.  I didn't have time!
  • Extra hair products: Hair gel, hair lightener...
  • Columbia fleece jacket: I don't know what I was thinking.
Things I Regret Not Bringing:
  • Running sneakers: I walked more in the past month than I have in the past three months back home.
  • Camelbak water bottle: We spent probably at least €15 a week here on water alone.
  • Scissors
  • Running shorts and sports bras
  • An emergency credit card
Things I'm Glad I Brought:
  • A photocopy of my license
  • Ibuprofen: and lots of it!
  • Deodorant and body spray: My roommate and friends were constantly stealing my body spray.
  • Sunscreen: I had to reapply sunscreen fairly regularly when we were out and about there.  The sun is intense!
  • Ziploc bags: It's surprising how useful these are in various situations.
  • Camera: I actually considered not bringing it and only using my phone to take pictures.  However, I used my camera a thousand times more than my phone camera.  It served me very well this trip.
My pants and shorts were beginning to be baggy around the waist and in the rear.  I had to tighten my belt a few notches.   I drank Coke like crazy (It's the drink of choice in Spain - with ice and a slice of lemon in the glass).  However, I drank a lot of water as well!  We were also constantly on the move, exploring and sightseeing!  Plus the produce and meat here were all really fresh and unprocessed (like I have said about eight hundred times already in previous posts). So far for dinner I have been offered Thai food, tacos and pizza.  This weight loss and body cleanse are not going to last long...
