Mini Adventure: Memorial Day

I have been talking about visiting the New England Aquarium since Bobby and I first got together.  I went as a child, many many moons ago.  I am a child at heart when it comes to animals and my family humors me.  Since Bobby and I now have the same holidays off, we I decided it would be a good opportunity to go. We once again hopped on the red line and headed into the city.  It was cold and damp, but being the trooper I am, I voted we walk the five blocks to the aquarium from our stop on the red line.  We saw the incredibly long line of people waiting to buy their tickets.  Immediate regret.  So I used my phone to immediately buy our tickets and we got to skip the line.  I highly recommend you buy tickets ahead of time for anything you do if possible.  Ever since our first date when we didn't get to see our movie, we have taken that lesson to heart and always preorder our tickets. Why It's Okay That I'm Sad and No, You Don't Need to "Fix" Me

People don't like things that make them feel uncomfortable.  As humans we appreciate things that fit neatly into boxes, tied up with a bow, clearly defined.  Life is a culmination of black, white, grey and every combination in-between.  Sometimes that grey matter is feeling sad, and I am here to tell you that IT'S OKAY. It's okay to feel sad.  It's okay to feel sad in the same way that it is okay to feel happy about the first sip of coffee in the morning, or relieved when you walk through the front door after a long day, or devastated when a loved one dies.  It's okay to feel sad without a specific reason why, too. It's important to let yourself feel anything and everything.  At the end of the day, the most important part is how we cope with it.  Allow yourself to feel what you feel, and then acknowledge that this is the way you're feeling.  If there is a reason why you're feeling anxious at work, maybe break the tasks into manageable bites....

Two and a Half

       Amidst packing, running errands, paying bills, making tons of photocopies, reading the required materials for the "class", I'm completely scatterbrained and yet totally organized.  That may not make sense so I'll rephrase: I'm so well organized that I've found I'm completely frazzled without things to worry about!       I'll be packing my suitcase and carry-on bag on Saturday before the flight at 9 p.m.  Pretty much everything that will be packed in them is organized or at least on one of my many lists.  Here are my last few dilemmas: what to wear on the plane, whether or not to pack my laptop and what snacks to pack.  These are life's important questions here, people.       Choosing snacks has so far been the easiest.  I ended up with Nutella To Go, a mini bag of pistachios, a box of  Special K Snacks Multi Grain Crackers, a bar of dark chocolate in case my sweet tooth acts up, and a few granola ba...
