Mini Adventure: Turning 27

This past weekend I turned 27. I got to spend the entire weekend with my family, not out drinking and partying as most of my friends spend their special day. Our engagement party is this coming weekend and since my grandma is sweet enough to let us borrow her house to host the event, it was only fair that we help her scrub the house and tidy the yard.
It was 95°, the lawn needed to be mowed, the carport and siding of the house both needed to be physically scrubbed. Bobby tore his meniscus so he now wears a brace and had to take periodic breaks to ice his knee. I lectured him like any good future wife would and treated him like an invalid, much to his embarrassment and frustration. We spent the better part of Saturday scrubbing until our arms were sore but you could truly tell the difference and I know at the end of the day, my grandma was grateful. It was a hot, tiring day but we sprayed each other with the hose and had a good time while getting things DONE.
My family is unfortunately filled with talented gift-givers so I chose to request some garden planters for my vegetables and a water filter pitcher so my family and I no longer buy gallons of spring water (we would drink tap but our town's iron levels are too high).

These are some cornhole boards my stepfather hand-made for me.  We plan to use them at our engagement parties for all our friends and family to enjoy!

Bobby was only allowed to get me one gift for my birthday and so he got me a necklace that matches my engagement ring.  I haven't taken it off!  I'm not one for expensive gifts but this is sentimental and I know I will cherish it always.

The two photo collages are something my sister put together for me!  I can't wait to display them proudly in our new home (hopefully to be purchased in the fall).

My word of the year for 27 is "LESS": less drama, less guilt, less plastic, less food waste, less trash, less money spent foolishly, less comparing myself to others.  I got to spend my birthday with amazing people and surrounded by love.  What more could a girl ask for??
