Carry Ons
I decided since I did not manage to convince myself to pack today, that I will be spending tomorrow morning making beignet dough and then packing. I really need to get my butt in gear and start seriously getting organized! I will probably spend Monday packing everything, which I know is last minute but I can't pack anything I'm still using every day!
Brianne left for Chicago today; she's presenting a paper at a psychology conference, which is awesome! Congrats to her for that. She comes home Sunday and we leave for Spain on Monday evening at 6:20. Poor girl barely gets to stop before she has to hop on another plane. She's such a sweetie, super funny and friendly!
I have to narrow down the number of books and jewelry I want to bring with me. So far I have a stack of four comic books and five or six novels. I don't think that this is going to keep my luggage under fifty pounds:
This book itself probably weighs about fifty pounds. No joke. |
Speaking of carry-ons, I have been scouring blogs and videos to try and figure out what I should/can bring in my carry-on bag. I know about the 3-1-1 rule: 3.4 ounces of liquids, one 1-quart Ziploc baggie, 1 bin for the Ziploc bag by itself - separate from the rest of your things. I think food is allowed, according to TSA regulations, as long as it is still wrapped or in a container. When I'm bored - such as being trapped in a metal box about eighteen thousand feet above the ground for seven hours - I snack like you wouldn't believe. I want my snacks, gosh-darn-it! I also wonder if I can bring my empty Camelbak water bottle and fill it up after I'm through security... Water is ridiculously expensive in airports! Also, I discovered that I don't really own a good carry-on bag. Most of my bags are totes etc., which aren't ideal when you're going to be carrying them on your shoulders.
Tomorrow is my last weekday to pick up things because stores and banks will be closed Monday most likely due to the holiday. I should make a list of all the things I need. Oh, dear. So much to do! TGIF!
