Mini Adventure: Red Sox Surprise
When you try to surprise your boyfriend with Red Sox tickets and you end up in a giant fight because he can't just accept a gift... 😑
Moving on... I got Bobby tickets to see the Red Sox this past weekend! It wasn't the glorious weather we had in Salem, but it wasn't raining at least. The ride into Boston was cake; we drove to Quincy Adams and hopped on the red line, then took the green line to Fenway. On the way we stopped for breakfast (of course). Nellie Rose is a cute, tiny diner in Whitman, Mass. It's tight and has a very small-town feel with their regulars and tiny tables. It was your classic diner breakfast, nothing special but portions were good and the price was definitely right!
I have never been to Fenway and I have lived south of Boston my entire life. I'm a die-hard Patriots fan and I support the Red Sox whenever possible, but I have to admit I don't actively follow them.
The game was actually very good. Baseball for me is about fun and the atmosphere, although I do enjoy watching the sport. I was freezing however, and I spent most of the afternoon huddled up practically in Bobby's lap.
Following the game we decided we were both hungry so we swung by Blaze Pizza right down the street. Think of it as the Subway of pizza shops. You walk along the counter and pick out your toppings and they prepare it for you! I chose onions, peppers , spinach and pineapple. Bobby got plain cheese and in retrospect it was a good idea (more on that in a minute). If you ever go, I highly recommend the blood orange lemonade! Ugh, so delicious!
I expected the trains home to be mobbed and while they were busy, they were not the packed trains I am used to. Bobby was quiet and I assumed he was just tired (he suffers from narcolepsy so exhaustion is the norm). We got all the way home and Bobby told me he didn't feel well. He got violently ill and spent the night on my pull-out sofa. He was probably dehydrated and he had been fasting before the game because he had bloodwork that morning. Also, the foot-long hot dog probably didn't help, haha! Luckily he recovered and we are planning our next adventure. Not quite the adventure we expected, but we had a fun day spending time together, doing something we had never done before!
